Course Notes:

HORIZONS GOLF RESORT - Just north of Newcastle is the highly acclaimed Horizons Resort at Salamander Bay. This impressive layout was designed by Graham Marsh and Ross Watson and boasts luxurious on-course accommodation. The course is an excellent Par 72 championship golf course, Rated in Australian Golf Digest as the Number 1 Resort Course in NSW, it is also one of the Top 5 Resort Courses in Australia.

NEWCASTLE GOLF CLUB - Located at the mouth of the Hunter River, two hour's drive from Sydney, Newcastle is one of only two courses in NSW given international recognition by the panel of experts rating the World's Top 100 Courses. It is rated number 13 in Australia by Golf Australia magazine and number 23 by Golf Digest. A true championship course of 6160 metres (6800 yards), it is based on undulating sand dunes like those of the great historic links of Great Britain and Ireland.

However, instead of fairways lined by gorse and heather, Newcastle is carved out of a forest of Eucalypts and angophoras abounding in native flora and fauna, including kookaburras, bearded dragons and kangaroos, making it a delightful as well as a challenging course to play.

CYPRESS LAKES GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB - The centrepiece of Cypress Lakes Resort is the magnificent 18 hole par 72 championship golf course designed by Steve Smyers and Australian golfing legend Bob Stanton, for all levels of golfers. The course features Australia's longest Par 5 at 573 metres and the only dual fairway in the country with its awesome and strategically placed bunkers separating these two challenging fairways. The course has breathtaking views over the surrounding vineyards and Brokenback Range.
