The internationals are leading the way at the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola with Korean young gun KT Kim leading at 13-under-par with American Bubba Watson a further shot back.
KT Kim was a late inclusion to the Australian PGA Championship after being in Australia the week previous; given his current position in the tournament the decision is paying dividends.
“While I was heading over here I found out there was going to be another tournament so I rushed in last minute, so far it has been a good decision and has added a lot more satisfaction,” said Kim
For Kim who has had just three bogeys in the first three rounds has demonstrated his highly accurate putting yet believes his irons have been his strength around the Hyatt Regency Coolum course.
“I am a bit of a streaky putter, really, you have seen the good side of my putting but you haven’t seen the bad side.”
“It is not my putting that has really had me at this position; it is more my second shot and my iron play that has really helped me play bogey free.”
A win in Coolum would bring the humble Koreans tally of wins in 2011 to three; earned in three different countries and as well as the Kirkwood Cup, Kim, will also walk away the OneAsia Order of Merit Champion.
“You know I think I have over performed until September really, the performance I had this season has been beyond my expectations, if I do end up winning tomorrow it would be icing on the cake really.”
“So far I am very happy but I still have got a very long day tomorrow ahead, a very important day,”
Heading into the final round with Bubba Watson sitting just below Kim at 12-under the card, Aaron Baddeley the best of the Aussies at 10-under and a further three players in contention at 9-under the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola is open for the taking.
The Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia, Asia Pacific’s professional tournament destination for elite golfers.
The tournament is being showcased on OneAsia's television platform across all four tournament days, broadcast to over 400 million homes in more than 40 countries.
Full coverage of the event will be broadcast domestically on Network Ten, as well as internationally on ESPN Star Sports, Jupiter Golf Network, SBS Golf Channel, Fox International and Sky Sports NZ among others.
