TICKETS ON SALE TO SEE GARCIA, VILLEGAS AND OGILVY IN ACTION AT THE JBWERE MASTERS

Jun 8, 2010

Golf fans will soon be able to secure a prime position on the fairways to see some of the biggest names in world golf, with tickets for the 2010 JBWere Masters on sale from Wednesday 9 June.

Sports Minister James Merlino urged golf fans to get in quick to secure their ticket for the world-class event, which will be held at Melbourne’s Victoria Golf Club from 11-14 November.

The 2010 JBWere Masters is classed as a ‘declared event’ under the Major Sporting Events Act and scalpers on-selling tickets at exorbitant prices could face fines of up to $30,000.

“The JBWere Masters is one of Melbourne’s great major events, but individuals trying to make a quick buck off the event face sanctions of more than $6000, while companies face tough fines of more than $30,000 under Victoria’s anti-scalping legislation,” Mr Merlino said.

"I urge all fans to purchase their tickets through authorised seller, Ticketek, when tickets go on sale on Wednesday 9 June – those who don't run the risk of having their tickets cancelled and will be unable to verify whether their tickets are legitimate."

David Rollo, Vice President - Director of Golf IMG Australia said 100,000 people will again have the opportunity to see some of the world’s best in Melbourne at this year’s JBWere Masters.

“The 2010 JBWere Masters has maintained an affordable and accessible ticketing policy with daily tickets available under $50.

“Last year’s event sold out so sports fans should purchase tickets early as general admission will again be capped at 20,000 per day,” Mr Rollo said.

Australia’s Geoff Ogilvy returns in 2010 and will need to use his local knowledge as a member of The Victoria Golf Club to fend off the challenges from a stellar field including Spanish sensation Sergio Garcia and Colombian Camilo Villegas.

Tickets to see world class players on a world class course are available for all four tournament days plus practice and Pro-Am day.

Golf enthusiasts can purchase a season pass for $179 to access the venue over six days and general admission to the tournament is $49 per day.

Children under 14 years of age will receive complimentary access if accompanied by an adult.*Conditions Apply

Tickets are available through Ticketek on 132 849,  www.ticketek.com.au or by visiting any Ticketek outlet.
