Aussies in form in US, Leish leads the charge

Oct 2, 2019

The third season tournament on the PGA Tour saw six Australians tee up and all but one made the cut with some impressive performances along the way. Marc Leishman shot the equal low final round (65) to finish in outright 3rd behind Cameron Champ of the US and Adam Hadwin of Canada.
Cameron Percy continued his great start to the season. He has not missed the cut in the first three events, eventually finishing T7. Currently 14th on the FedEx Cup standings, Percy has all but secured his card for next season.
Adam Scott returned to the Tour for his season debut and he continued his solid form finishing T17. Tour rookie Rhein Gibson and Tour veteran Aaron Baddeley both had good weeks finishing T33. Cameron Davis was our sole representative not to play on the weekend.
On the Champions Tour David McKenzie had a rare slip up missing the cut for the first time in three starts at the PURE Insurance Championship played at Pebble Beach and Poppy Hills in California. However it was better news for Rod Pampling who just turned 50 to find himself on the Champions Tour for his first start. He finished T16 with compatriot Stephen Leaney a shot behind in T20.
The Latinoamerica was the only other men’s event played on the US Tour and one Aussie, Ryan Ruffles, teed up in Brazil at the Fazenda Boa Vista Golf Course in Porta Feliz (say that with a mouthful of Weeties!) He finished on -9 to just miss out on the Top 25.
The ladies resumed on the LPGA Tour after a short break and Republic of Korea’s Mi Jung Hur fired four sub 70 rounds to finish on -21, 4 shots ahead of the chasing pack. Australia’s Su Oh and Sarah Kemp led the Aussie charge both finishing in a share of T15.
