Aussies prepare for PGA Championship

Aug 7, 2018

Some of Australia's best chances at this week’s US PGA Championship, recorded good finishes in last week’s lead event - the WGC Bridgestone International.
Jason Day had a top 10 finish, while Marc Leishman (T14) and Adam Scott (T57) made the cut for weekend action. Cameron Smith (23rd) and Wayne Ormsby (T39) also made the cut but they didn't make the field for the PGA. Let’s hope this is the perfect preparation for an overdue Aussie victory the year’s final major!
Those players not qualified for the WGC event battled it out at Reno, Nevada in the Barracuda Championship. This modified Stableford event rewards low scoring, with eagles scoring 5 points and birdies two, while double bogeys (or worse) lose 3. Matt Jones (T15), Aaron Baddeley (T26) and Stuart Appleby (T30) were the best performed Australians.
On the Champions Tour Peter Lonard performed best and finished T27.
Only Curtis Luck had any, finishing in T27 on the web.com Tour. Jamie Arnold and Cameron Davis enjoyed a weekend off after failing to make the cut.
On the Canadian PGA Mackenzie Tour, Brett Coletta (T15) was the best placed Aussie, recording his 4th Top 25 finish in just 8 starts.
So fingers crossed for this week’s final major. Let’s hope one of Australia’s four representatives - Jason Day, Cameron Smith, Adam Scott or Marc Leishman - can bring home the bacon!
