Unfortunately commercial realities have reduced our once flourishing Australian Summer of Golf to just two tournaments – The Australian Open and the Australian PGA. The Covid-19 pandemic meant both events were cancelled in 2020. The 2021 dates were Nov 25-28 for The Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club and Dec 2-5 for the PGA at Royal Queensland.
Golf Australia has just announced that both events need to be rescheduled over concerns for public health and difficulties for quarantine arrangements for Australian and International golfers attending.
While the PGA at Royal Queensland has found an alternate date – Jan 13-16, the Australian Open is yet to fix theirs, naming late January or February as possible alternatives.
