The boy from Bendigo breaks through!

Nov 1, 2021

Lucas Herbert, the 25 year old from Bendigo in regional Victoria, has been getting and better on golfing tours abroad. Two victories on the European Tour including this year’s Irish Open announced his arrival. However he’s craved success on the biggest stage and on his first year on the USPGA Tour he’s broken through for his maiden victory.

At the Butterfield Bermuda Championship there was some nervous moments as he chased Patrick Reeds clubhouse total of -14, but with birdies on twelve and fourteen with long clutch putts and four pars to bring him home, it was enough to hold off Reed and NZ’s Danny Lee by one stroke.

Pocketing a cool US$1 million was just the part of a big Herbert payday. Starting the event #57 on world rankings, he’s now got a two year exemption at the big dance and he should shoot inside the World Top 50, gaining him a Golden Ticket to the US Masters in April 2022.
