One of the world’s most exciting golfing talents has recorded his third win on the US PGA Tour. Tom Kim is just 21 years of age and by winning the Shriners Children’s Open he notched his third Tour win, becoming the youngest three-time winner on the PGA Tour since the one and only Tiger Woods. Obviously he has a long way to go to match Tiger’s record, however it’s a promising start to what looks to be a bright future for the young South Korean. Kim (-20) held off Adam Hadwin (-19) with four players tied in third on -18 (Cole, Noren, Poston and Pendrith).
Now ranked 11th in the world, Kim set a number of intriguing records with his victory;
- Successfully defends a TOUR title in first attempt (DNP/2023 Wyndham Championship)
- Becomes the second-youngest to successfully defend a PGA TOUR title since 1900 (John McDermott/1912 U.S. Open/20 years, 11 months, 21 days)
- Joins Jim Furyk (1998-99) as the only players to win the Shriners Children’s Open in back-to-back years
- Becomes the first player to win the same event twice in a season since Byron Nelson won the San Francisco Open in January and December 1944
Australia’s Cam Davis continued his solid form finishing just 3 shots away from the winner on -17 to share a tie for seventh. Harrison Endycott finished T56, while Lucas Herbert missed the cut.
