Golfing Mecca swings into South Bank Brisbane

Mar 19, 2024

It’s ball or nothing for Australia’s favourite indoor golf brand as the team behind X-Golf prepares for its eighth Queensland venue to open in Brisbane’s South Bank precinct this March.
Located in the middle of the vibrant cultural centre at 275 Grey Street, golf lovers can try their hand at one of the five state-of-the-art simulators or putt for some fun at the cult mini golf experience, Hey Caddy, all under the one roof.
Operations Manager Simon Neil said Queensland X-Golfers have shown outstanding support, with 50,000 guests recorded at South East Queensland venues last year, an annual increase of 8 per cent.
“As a golfer of over 30 years and in my experience, I feel that the regular golfing scene can seem a bit unwelcoming,” Mr Neil said.
“At X-Golf, we’ve created a culture which is the complete opposite and we can see how well that’s been received by people across Australia, especially post-Covid, and we can’t wait to bring this unique experience to the heart of Brisbane,” he said.

South Bank’s first ever indoor golf entertainment hybrid, X-Golf will offer visitors the opportunity to eat and drink at the in-house kitchen and bar or enjoy functions on-site while getting their golfing fix.
Serious hitters who are coming in for the game can partake in X-Golf’s popular X-League or take advantage of lessons with PGA-certified coaches.
Pioneered by two Australian brothers in 2005 who noticed a need for an inclusive golfing alternative, X-Golf simulators are renowned for stunning graphics, unmatched shot recreation and feel, as well as their exclusive ball retrieval system.
X-Golf fanatic Nathan Baxter said that the simulators are sophisticated enough for serious golfers yet intuitive enough for beginners.
“They’re so good that after a while I was really getting into it and found myself looking down the fairway to get a feel for where to aim.”
“The stats and data they provide is amazing. You get to play a full round of golf with driving, hitting approach shots and even putting all available,” Mr Baxter said.
A concept realised to be indoor golf reimagined, the inclusion of the 12-hole Hey Caddy mini golf makes X-Golf South Bank a one-stop-shop for sporting entertainment where players of all abilities can enjoy a hit.
A social media sensation thanks to its destination-themed holes, Hey Caddy takes players from Oktoberfest in Germany to the running of the bulls in Spain and far beyond. Guests can even pair their game with destination-themed cocktails.
X-Golf South Bank is the brand’s 22nd franchise to open in Australia in 13 years, offering extensive food and drink options, a games area, alfresco dining space, party rooms, big screen TVs broadcasting the latest sporting action, plus more.
The exciting new venue will open on Tuesday, 4 April bringing an unmatched experience to this premier lifestyle destination - no ifs, ands, or putts about it!
