The New Normal: Social Distancing Here To Stay As Golf Courses Open In Australia

Social distancing has become a huge part of everyday life at this point in time. With many of us all around the world staying at home and apart from when out in public, this is slowly becoming the new normal. But how will this continue when these lockdown measures are slowly relaxed? In this article, we will be looking at changes being made in Australia and how this is set to change life as we know it moving on from the Covid-19 outbreak.

The End Of Lockdown Measures

As the world continues to be gripped by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many countries still remain in some form of lockdown measure. Though these measures have had a profound effect on lowering the rate of infection around the world, there is no denying that it has had a profound effect on a number of economies around the world. With countries such as Italy, France, Spain and the UK all struggling, as a result, there are many of us hoping for a return to normality as soon as possible.

This is a state of mind that has also been echoed in Australia. Since passing the peak of the virus, many countries have begun to slowly but surely open up some of their economies. The most recent changes in Australia is the slow return to the golf course for a majority of people. This is a promising sign for sport as many begin to take bets on the return to the season and the eventual relaxation of some if not all restrictions in the country. But this, of course, does not come without its challenges so we will have to wait to see if sports in general, and golf in particular, can make their way soon, which will obviously have a deep impact on how golf betting sites return to the new normal.

The Slow Return To Normal

Though it may look like a return to normal for many of us, there are a majority of changes that are being made. With social distancing in place, this has become the new normal for many of us. With a minimal distance of 2 meters need to be kept at all times, golf courses are doing more to ensure the health of players. This is part of the governs plan to open some parks and recreational sports providers to allow open-air exercise during this time.

However, with changes to businesses and their daily operations, is this the return to normal that many were hoping for? It is important to remember at this time that several sporting associations across the world and particularly in Australia are eager to get back into sport but are yet unable to. These measures have had to be resolved gradually to ensure that a second wave of viruses does not happen.

A Change In Daily Operations

These new regulations have meant that yes golf courses can open, but several changes are being made to their daily operations. This means that clubhouses, bathrooms and other communal areas will be closed when using the courses. In addition, golf course owners are also doing more to ensure social distancing when out on the course. This includes removing the following:

  • Sand Trap Rakes
  • Water coolers
  • Ball washers

There will also be several other restrictions in place such as not touching flag sticks and holes will either be raised above the green or stuffed. This will limit the amount of contact when reaching in to get your ball. All tee times will have to be booked over the phone and paid for by card and the time between slots will be extended to ensure that social distancing is kept at all times.

Though this may mean a loss of revenue due to there being fewer slots on offer, this does allow for businesses such as this to be open without causing any potential risk to the health of players. In addition to these measures on the course, all food provided will be takeout with driving ranges, clubhouses and public restrooms being closed. Additionally, the longer time in between time slots will also prevent gatherings in the car parks. This is essential when it comes to maintaining a reduced rate of infection, whilst allowing people to enjoy sport.

As restrictions continue to be lifted across the world, many people are wondering how their country will tackle lifting the restrictions without risking the rate of infection increases. Only time will tell as to whether or not this new normal will be here to stay for the foreseeable future.
