Adam Scott just misses FedExCup playoffs

Aug 7, 2023

The regular PGA Tour season is over and Australia’s Adam Scott has fallen agonisingly short of making the season ending FedEx Cup playoffs. America’s Lucas Glover won the Wyndham Championship, his 5th PGA Tour title at nearly 44 years of age and moved from 112th to 49th in the standings. Meanwhile Scott started in 81st place, needing a 2 way tie for 9th or better to make the field. Scott finished with a blistering round of -7 and rocketed up the leader board to finish in T7, however he shared that spot with six other players including compatriot Cam Davis. The final computations saw Scott finish in 72nd position – just 2 places shy of the Top 70 required to make the lucrative season ending tournaments.

In better news, Cam Davis started in 69th position and his finish alongside Scott saw him rise to 62nd position and earnt him a start in the playoffs. Davis will join Australia’s only other representative Jason Day, who didn’t play in the Wyndham and will start in 11th position on the grid.

With Adam Scott (T7) finishing No. 72 in the FedExCup standings, Matt Kuchar is now the only player that has qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs in each season since its inception in 2007. Justin Thomas (T12) finishes the FedExCup Regular Season No. 71 in the standings, snapping a streak of eight consecutive seasons qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs and seven straight appearances in the TOUR Championship.
