Barnbougle Dunes Golf Course

Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links is a traditional links course located on the pristine coastline of NE Tasmania. The 18 hole golf course – a spectacular amalgamation of mother nature’s wilderness and beauty with the craftsmanship of man – was completed in December 2004. The recipient of global accolades, Barnbougle Dunes was designed by U.S Golf visionary Tom Doak and Australian Mike Clayton to channel the traditional links courses of Scotland and Ireland.
Golf at Barnbougle is a game of strategy, where each shot requires tactical thought and a little creativity can be rewarding.  A blend of fescue and bent grasses, the course flourishes in the coastal environment. Fairways are wide, wider than most golfers will have experienced on traditional courses. The greens are lively; rolling with the natural undulation of the dunes and with the 4th hole boasts the largest bunker in the southern hemisphere this course is designed to challenge.

Barnbougle Dunes has achieved numerous awards and currently holds the following rankings;
#1 Public Access course in Australia (2015 Golf Course Guide)

World Ranking #40
(US Golf Digest)

Par 78 (20 holes), Par 72 (18 holes), Length: 6503m / 6263m

Officially opened on the 10th December 2010 Barnbougle Lost Farm is a 20-hole Links Golf course situated on Barnbougle Farm on Tasmania’s NE coast, adjacent to the Barnbougle Dunes Course.
Designed and constructed by world renowned U.S golf course architects Coore & Crenshaw, Lost Farm has quickly captured the attention of golfers around the world.
Within 8 months of opening, Lost Farm entered the World Top 100 List (by US Golf Magazine) at #82 as one of only 4 new entrants into the biennial listing. In addition to this outstanding feat, the course has also been rated:
#2 Public Access course by 2015 Golf Course Guide
#2 Public Course in Australia by Golf Australia
#6 Golf Course in Australia by Australian Golf Digest
#23 in World rankings by US Golf Digest

The Course

With a reputation for minimalistic course design and a philosophy that traditional, strategic golf is the most rewarding, head architect Bill Coore created the Lost Farm with the intention to compliment the canvas provided by Mother Nature.
Despite the close proximity of Lost Farm to Barnbougle Dunes, the two courses are remarkably different. The sand dunes on which Lost Farm is located are steeper and more dramatic than those of Barnbougle Dunes.
Lost Farm features 20 holes all of which are playable during any given round. The layout of Lost Farm also offers a more diverse routing than Barnbougle Dunes, with fairways that roll both along the coast and inland.
The distinctive undulating character of the course features – like its sister course – fescue grass, a grass ideally suited to the hostile coastal conditions and sandy soil.
Coore and Crenshaw’s final result is the Lost Farm - a course that is dramatically different and simultaneously complimentary to both the surrounding landscape and Barnbougle Dunes. As for which course is better, each golfer will back their personal preference, and their reasoning will doubt be the feature of many a passionate dinner table conversation.

The Lodge and Restaurant at Lost Farm
The 50 room lodge perched on top of a costal dune overlooks the new course, hinterland of northern Tasmania and beautiful coastline of Barnbougle Beach. Elegantly appointed, rooms in the new lodge are available in either a king bed or double queen bed configuration.
The 300 sqm restaurant and lounge area is encased by glass windows protecting diners from the elements whilst taking in the mesmerizing views of course and coastline from the dinner table

Sports Bar at Lost Farm
The Sports Bar at Lost Farm is the perfect place for an after golf refreshment or a handful of beers with the boys.
Offering snack food, wood oven pizza, cold beer and a selection of local Tasmanian wines, the Sports Bar includes a TOTE, pool tables, dart boards and Foxtel to ensure no sporting moment is missed.
