The Links at Hope Island, as the name suggests, is a piece of Scottish golfing tradition on the Gold Coast of Australia. Opened in early 1993, it is characterised by features borrowed from the traditional vernacular including 'pot' style bunkering, hidden ground, closely mown and undulating aprons and generally small gently sloping greens which require a variety of approach shots.
A network of lakes and water courses, while primarily created to provide the necessary fill material for construction, now plays an integral part in the management of the course environment." (Peter Thomson)
Peter Thomson’s Links at Hope Island is considered by many to be the finest golf course in Queensland. The grooming is immaculate from the 328 Bermuda grass greens to the wintergreen couch fairways, the white sand bunkers and some of the slickest putting surfaces in Queensland. There are also 128 "pot" bunkers, numerous grassy mounds and plenty of water. It may not be a natural links in the classic style, but it sure does play like one. Think twice before you tackle it in the wind.
The imposing contemporary Venetian style clubhouse is open to all with magnificent locker rooms, casual and fine dining, or simply a comfortable lounge or bar for that drink after the game. There’s under cover car parking too.
The Links Golf Club is open to the public 365 days per year. Golf membership is restricted to ownership of resort property and corporate membership.
