About White Rock Café

Long Reef headland is well known for a number of popular surfing spots including White Rock, so named because of the large white rock that is located just under the surface off the most northern tip of the reef platform. Suitable for experienced surfers, White Rock works well as a surfing spot in a variety of weather conditions.
Local fishermen also use White Rock as a mark to their favourite fishing grounds, a tradition that has been going long before GPS were invented.
Long Reef was first sighted by Captain James Cook and his Royal Navy crew in 1770 and fishermen have been using Fisherman’s Beach since the 18th century, with a number of old fishing huts still standing today at the eastern end of the beach.
An area rich in maritime history, Fisherman’s Beach in the early days was also used as a small port for loading local cattle for the Sydney Market.
Long Reef Headland is part of a protected Aquatic Reserve which also offers a haven for surfing, fishing and other water sports. The top of the headland offers views up and down the coast and is a great vantage spot to view migrating whales and dolphins.
