The Metropolitan Melbourne area is in lock down again. The Covid-19 pandemic continues worldwide and until we can control the outbreak in our little corner of the woods, isolation and staying at home is the new norm. Outside of Victoria everything appears to have settled, although NSW has a new scare and small outbreak. Australia-wide golf courses remain open, they’re busy and many now allow groups of four and you can even share carts in some places! Back in Melbourne however it’s lock down pain for another month or more. Luckily however, golf is one recreational activity that is classified as exercise and it can be played, albeit with strict regulations and guidelines. This is taken directly from the Department of Health & Human Services website:
"People playing (golf) together must be able to keep 1.5 metres distance from each other, and maintain 100 meters from all other groups, (e.g. only two people should be playing a single hole at a time). Shared facilities and driving ranges cannot open and equipment must not be shared or rented."
Then there’s notification and clarification from Golf Australia about the use of hire equipment. Their official statement found here is;
"No hire equipment, including golf clubs, pull buggies, or golf carts, may be made available for hire under any circumstances".
So it appears that everyone including Melbournians can still have a hit as long Melbournians stay in Melbourne. Everyone else enjoy. Stay Safe!
