Despite the devastating impact of the recent South Coast Bushfire Crisis to many towns and villages in New South Wales, the recently launched #SouthCoastGolfTrail and its three highly celebrated golf courses remain untouched.
In fact, Golf South Coast is now preparing for an increase in visitors and bookings to play, stay and experience its stunning trail following a highly publicised and warmly welcomed invitation for tourists to return.
Club Catalina General Manager Guy Chapman said the support from all Australians, especially the golfing community and industry has been overwhelming.
“We are simply in awe of the number of people asking us what they can do to help, and the short answer is to simply come back or book a holiday, stay in our towns, dine in our restaurants and of course play the #SouthCoastGolfTrail.”
Narooma Golf Club’s General Manager Dominic Connaughton added to the call for tourists to return to help small businesses who continue to count their losses.
“This extraordinary and heartbreaking event is a serious blow to many businesses and by extension all families in the area. Australia is a nation of mateship, and right now we are in need of this camaraderie and support, more than ever because our communities simply will not survive without the support of our fellow Australians,” he said.
The #SouthCoastGolfTrail and its location continues to attract attention among first-time players to the highly experienced. And it’s no wonder why when the trail begins in the breathtaking seaside town of Mollymook. The Mollymook Golf Club features two stunning golf courses - the first is their 9-hole Beachside Course which sits atop the southern tip of the beautiful Mollymook Beach. The 18- hole Hilltop course - affectionately known as ‘The Ultimate Challenge’ – is a golfer’s dream, nestled in a bushland oasis with meandering tree-lined fairways and undulating greens.
Further south, Club Catalina boasts a pristine 27-hole course, guarded with tall established trees and
contoured by water. The holes start with much expectation, so accuracy off the tee is vital. But beware – the local kangaroos provide an added obstacle throughout the game before ending with a final challenge!
Finally, the Narooma Golf Club wraps us this unique golfing experience with its renowned 3rd hole, named ‘Hogan Hole’ after Aussie actor Paul Hogan’s infamous TV commercial. This course is recognised as one of Australia’s top 100 golf courses and features 6 holes perched on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean – an exhilarating challenge for serious golfers and a pleasure for the not so serious. PGA Professional and Mollymook Golf Manager Barry West said the creation of the #SouthCoastGolfTrail delivers some of the best golf and courses in Australia, while attracting large corporate and PGA Professional events.
To experience first-class golf courses and to support the recovery of the south coast of NSW, now is the time to book your #SouthCoastGolfTrail. Golf Packages include the three courses, accommodation, restaurant bookings and more. Customised packages are also available.
All three locations are open to visitors year-round, within easy drive to each other and are 2 to 3.5 hours from Sydney and Canberra. Experience the #SouthCoastGolfTrail in 2020.
