2010 Sydney Invitational to be played in March

Jan 29, 2010

This year’s Sydney Invitational will again see a quality field of professional golfers compete for the largest Pro-am purse in Australia.

Players such as Brendan Jones, Peter O’Malley, Andre Stolz and Japan-bound Kurt Barnes will battle for their share of the $137,500 on offer for the pros.
A field of 200 amateurs will play over four days from March 23rd to 26th at Terrey Hills, Macquarie Links, St Michaels and the Lakes course (that will host this year’s Australian Open). There will be more than $40,000 worth of trophies and prizes up for grabs for the amateurs, and at the conclusion of the event a Gala Charity Dinner will be held in Sydney city for players, sponsors and guests.

Since the events first running back in 2004 the Meriton Sydney Invitational has raised more than $300,000 for charity, and this year all money raised will be presented to the Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The cost of playing in the Sydney Invitational is $1680 and entry forms can be obtained from the Sydney Invitational website (www.sydneyinvitational.com.au) or contacting the tournament director John Small on 0412 395060.

Please note: The format of the Sydney Invitational is a team’s event with one pro and three amateurs competing on an individual basis as well as competing for the crystal in the Team Scratch and Team Nett events (with the best two scores counting on each hole), and spots in this year’s event are filling fast with only 12 team spots available.
