Rankings Boost for 2011 JBWere Masters Champion

20 December 2011

Ian Poulter’s sublime closing round of 67 at Victoria Golf Club on Sunday not only earned the colorful Englishman his first Gold Jacket, but also saw him jump from 28 to 16 in the final 2011 Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) released yesterday. As 2011 JBWere Masters champion he also gains exemption to 2012 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

In addition the fast finishing Marcus Fraser, who came through the field with a final round of 64 to finish second, jumped 35 places in the OWGR and moved back inside the top 100 at #97.

In the 33rd staging of the Masters, Poulter became the second Englishman to win the event following in the footsteps of his good friend Justin Rose who won in 2007.

For Marcus Fraser it represented his second runner-up finish at the Masters on the back of his play-off loss to Rod Pampling in 2008.

Marcus will have the opportunity to add his name to the impressive list of Masters’ Champions in 2012 when the tournament will be played at Kingston Heath Golf Club from 15-18 November.
