SCOTT MOVES TO CAREER HIGH WORLD NUMBER 3

May 6, 2008

Australia’s Adam Scott has moved to a career high number 3 behind only Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson on the Official World Golf Rankings.

The 27 year old member of the PGA of Australia was ranked fifth last week and has leapfrogged South African Ernie Els and American Steve Stricker on the rankings after he finished in a tie for eighth at the Wachovia Championship in North Carolina on the weekend.

The week before Scott made a massive leap from world number 10 after sinking a monster 50 foot putt on the third play off hole to win the EDS Byron Nelson Championship from American Ryan Moore.

Els and Stricker now follow Scott in fourth and fifth place with fellow aussie Geoff Ogilvy maintaining his position at world number six with Jim Furyk, K.J. Choi, Vijay Singh and Justin Rose, in order, rounding out the top 10.

Robert Allenby was another mover on the rankings, jumping up seven places to world number 36 after finishing in outright fourth place with a final round 66 at the Wachovia Championship.

There are currently 13 Australasians in the Official World Golf Rankings Top 100.
