Over 20 years ago, a small group of renegade golfers trekked the local golfing landscape, challenging public golf courses with gusto. After their round, these weekend warriors (over a cold ale or two) would talk golf, and during these indepth and enlightening conversations it became apparent that a void existed in the golf magazine market for their kind.
One of the group, Garry Kennedy, proclaimed to all and sundry that his new full time profession would be in publishing, as editor-in-chief of a brave, new, unpretentious golfing magazine.
A few beers later and Australia’s newest golfing title - HACKER Magazine - was born.
Today, after more than 70 editions, HACKER continues to present itself as the green fee golfer’s Champion.
Written by Hackers, for Hackers, the magazine isn’t aimed at nancy, checked pant wearing private club buffoons. It’s aimed at the grass roots golfer. For the bloke (or chick) that likes to hit it hard! They don’t mind playing early, in the rain, without a raincoat – and they don’t waddle around the course looking like a four iron has been shoved up their butt.
If you enjoy your golf, if you enjoy a laugh and if you don’t take the game of golf too seriously – then HACKER Magazine is for you!
In the brave new world of the early 21st Century, HACKER Magazine has gone rogue. Okay, rogue is probably a little too strong, I guess more accurately we've gone digital. Rather than wipe out an entire forest to print the publication for you to enjoy, we've joined the online revolution.
