Peter Fowler captured the City of South Perth Masters Pro Am 2012 in Western Australia - an Asia Pacific Champions Tour event.


The Asia Pacific Champions Tour held its second edition of the US$50,000 City of South Perth Masters Pro Am 2012 at the magnificent Collier Park Golf Course in Perth, Western Australia.

The 36 Hole Stroke Play professional Pro Am event was won by Australia's Peter Fowler by only one shot from fellow Australian, Keith Murray. Peter was last year's Order of Merit Champion on the European Seniors Tour.

After starting the day at three under, Peter was three over on the front nine and found himself one behind Australia's Richard Beer, who hit the lead at one under. However, Peter managed to fight back with a fine two under on the final Island nine to hold on by one stroke and register his maiden victory on the Asia Pacific Champions Tour.

Peter was up against some of the region's leading senior professionals including:- Rodger Davis, Mike Harwood, Lyndsay Stephen, Wayne Smith, Richard Beer, Hugh Dolan, Ross Metherell, Trevor Downing, Terry Gale and Mike Ferguson

However, in the end Peter benefitted from his vast experience in playing against some of the world’s best seniors on the European Seniors Tour to win impressively on a public golf course which many of the players stated was up to Australian Open standards!

Coming in second place on even par was Western Australia's Keith Murray with fellow local stars Lyndsay Stephen and Wayne Smith tied for third on one over.

Peter now adds the City of South Perth Masters Pro Am 2012 to his impressive record of 11 international victories which includes: -

The event also featured a unique amateur format playing with the pros where the leading amateurs won a trip to play in the Champion of Champions Cup 2012 and the International Teams Cup 2012 at the tour ending Tournament Players Championship in Thailand in December.



The Team Combo Champions were D. Romeo and E. Dalessio with a two day score of 136 Pts whilst the Individual winner was Catherine Cary with a two day total of 73 pts.



Tournament Director, Ross Metherell says this event promises to come back next year bigger and better with the support of the City of South Perth and all sponsors.
