JT Poston wins 2026 Memorial as US Open looms

Jun 9, 2026

It’s just two weeks until the PGA Tour heads to Shinnecock Hills, New York for the 126th US Open. The just completed Memorial Tournament featured a strong field as players hone their games for the third major of 2026.

J.T. Poston won the day on the second playoff hole – enjoying success in the season’s fifth playoff over Ryan Gerard. They finished tied on -12, one stroke ahead of third placegetter Wyndham Clark (-11), with Tommy Fleetwood and Sam Burns on -10 (T4).

It was Poston’s fourth career PGA TOUR victory in his 257th start at the age of 33. After leading at the 54 hole mark, Poston started his final round shakily, before finishing with an even-par 72. This included birdies on three of his final five holes (Nos. 14, 15 and 18). Poston Moves to No. 32 in the FedExCup after entering the week without a finish inside the top 20 in 13 starts this season.

Ryan Gerard (P2/-12) collects his third runner-up finish of the season (2nd/Sony Open in Hawaii, T2/The American Express).

In his first start since his victory at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, Wyndham Clark (3rd/-11) posted final-round 67 in bid to become second player this season to win in back-to-back starts on TOUR

Tommy Fleetwood (T4/-10) eagled the par-5 15th hole – his first in 284 career holes at Muirfield Village – to take the outright lead before making bogey on the par-4 17th. It marks his sixth top-10 finish in 11 starts this season.

In search of his first PGA TOUR title since the 2023 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, Sam Burns (T4/-10) posted his best finish of the season and third top-10 (T6/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T7/Masters Tournament).

Alex Fitzpatrick (T6/-8) posted a terrific final round  65, a tied for the low round of the tournament.

In his bid to become the first player to win an event on TOUR in three consecutive years since Steve Stricker (2009-11 John Deere Classic), two-time defending champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (T12/-4) posted his 32nd consecutive top-25 finish on TOUR.

Adam Scott was the leading Australian finishing T12 (-4). He posted a final round 66 to jump 14 places from his 54 hole staring point. Jason Day and Min Woo Lee missed the Cut.

The Tour heads to Toronto for the final lead up event to the US Open, The Canadian Open.
